Privacy Policy for Thock: Keyboard Sounds
Last updated: October 19, 2026
Thock is a macOS menu bar app that plays mechanical keyboard sounds while you type. It is published by Tarik Belaid.
Data we collect
The app itself collects nothing. Thock has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it never shares or sells personal data. The Mac App Store version makes no network connections.
Purchases on this website
When you buy Thock on this site, the payment is handled by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record. Paddle collects your name, email address, payment details and country to process the order, calculate taxes and prevent fraud, under the Paddle Privacy Policy. We never see your full payment details.
We keep your email address, order number and license key so we can send you the key, send it again if you lose it, and deactivate it after a refund. Emails are sent through our email provider, Resend. We do not use your email for marketing.
License activation
The version sold on this site contacts our license server (license.thock.online) only when you activate or remove a license. It sends your license key and an anonymous identifier of your Mac (a one-way hash, which cannot be traced back to the device) so that one key works on one Mac at a time. After activation, the license is checked offline.
To access or delete this data, email us at the address below. We delete it on request, except what we must keep for accounting or legal reasons.
Keyboard and mouse input
To play a sound, Thock needs the macOS “Input Monitoring” permission. Thock only uses the identifier of the key that moved to choose and position a sound. It never records the characters or text you type, never stores keystrokes and never sends them anywhere. Thock stays silent while a password field is active.
Statistics
Thock counts keystrokes per day, your streak and your best typing speed. These numbers are stored only on your Mac, inside the app’s sandbox container. You can export them as JSON or reset them at any time from the app. Uninstalling Thock deletes them.
Children
Thock is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.

Kontakt: support@thock.online
